Whetstone is a Bible study application providing King James Version scripture text, plain-English and historical-context explanations generated using AI technology grounded in public-domain biblical commentary, reading plans, and a personal journaling tool.
Whetstone's explanatory content reflects a specific theological framework — rooted in the doctrinal positions of Dallas Theological Seminary and the reasoned judgment of the app's creators on topics not directly addressed by that framework. This includes a dispensational, conservative evangelical Protestant interpretive approach.
Where Whetstone's content touches on topics where faithful Christians across denominations and traditions hold differing views (including but not limited to spiritual gifts, eschatology, divorce and remarriage, alcohol use, and gender roles), the App attempts to note where such disagreement exists. Whetstone's content is offered as one faithful reading of Scripture within the evangelical Christian tradition — not as the exclusive or universally-agreed-upon interpretation of every passage. Users are encouraged to engage with their local church community and its leadership as part of their spiritual growth, not to treat this App as a substitute for pastoral guidance, biblical counsel, or church membership.
You may use the App in guest mode without an account, or create an account to sync your data across devices. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
Journal entries, bookmarks, and other content you create in the App ("User Content") remain yours. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to store and process your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the App's functionality (e.g., syncing across your devices). We do not use your User Content to train AI models, and we do not share it with third parties except as necessary to operate the App (see Privacy Policy).
You agree not to use the App to:
Whetstone is free to use. We offer an optional donation feature to support ongoing development and operational costs (hosting, API services). Donations are voluntary and non-refundable except as required by law. Donations do not unlock additional features or content — all App functionality remains available regardless of donation status. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your payment information.
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated explanations will be free of error. AI-generated content, while grounded in the sources described above, may occasionally contain inaccuracies — users are encouraged to verify important theological questions with their local church leadership.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, DiligenceIQ shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App or delete your account at any time.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
